New exhibition in the Museum of Pilgrimage

Sacromontana LtdA new exhibition has been installed in the Museum of Pilgrimage in Svatá Hora these days. The exhibits from the collections of Svatá Hora are accompanied by thoughts selected from the books written by Cardinal Joachim Meisner, the Archbishop of Cologne.

 

In the museum, the visitors can see precious wooden statues, monstrances, caliches, crosses, cloaks for the Miraculous Statuette of the Virgin Mary of Svatá Hora, baroque vestments etc. There are shown objects related to friendship of Cardinal Joachim Meisner and Pope John Paul II. A mitre with the Lamb and a tiny copy of the Miraculous Statuette of the Virgin Mary are also interesting exhibits. Cardinal MExhibition in the Museum of Pilgrimageeisner wore this mitre during the secret ordinations of candidates from the former Czechoslovakia to the priesthood or to deacons in Berlin 1980 - 1989. The copy of the Miraculous Statuette always stood on the altar in the chapel of the bishop's residence during these ordinations, and it reminded the candidates of their homeland.

It is possible to buy the books by Cardinal Meisner in the shop situated in the space of the Museum of Pilgrimage or on-line. The publishing house of the Carmelites published in Czech followings books by Cardinal Meisner: two series of homilies for the Holy Week - "Ze smrti do života" (2003) and "On jde před vámi" (2004), a book of reflections on the Virgin Mary "Úvahy o Panně Marii" (2006) and, on occasion of the visit of Cardinal to Svatá Hora, again a book of interviews with Cardinal Meisner "Dívat se srdcem" (2007).

Fr Stanislav Přibyl, C.Ss.R, is the author of the exhibition. It has been installed thanks to sacristans of Svatá Hora and to the team working in the Museum of Pilgrimage.

Cardinal Joachim Meisner saw the exhibition during his visit of Svatá Hora, on August 15, 2007.

You can see the exhibition in the Museum of Pilgrimage in Svatá Hora daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., entrance: CZK 10. You can see it also during a guided tour.
